The worst health degrees and health majors. That’s what this video is going to be about. Overall health degrees tend to be pretty good, but there are some that aren’t as good as the others and some are outright BAD

Health care degrees and health care careers are something I’m very familiar with since I’m a healthcare professional.

Healthcare related jobs are currently growing faster than any other type of profession according to BLS (even faster than tech related professions!).

There is a ton of opportunity here, but just because it’s good as a whole doesn’t mean there aren’t a few bad apples.

In this video we will be talking about some of them, hope you enjoy!

I think it’s great that people know about the career outlook in industries but the truth is we need people as chiropractors, holistic medicine, etc.

Not only is Chiropractic a useless degree but those are the craziest wackos in the industry much like naturopathy.

Is a Health Information Management Master’s degree worth it? Or is a Nursing Informatics Degree better?

You are assuming that the student wants to work directly as a psychologist when getting a four year degree. I have a psychology free with minors in business and carefree life planning. I worked directly in my field assisting people on welfare get self- sufficient. Many classmates getting this degree went into business personnel, sales, work in nursing social service workers , etc. basically any thing in which you are work with people. Learn more than one language. This alone is a huge selling point. People who hire others look for communication skills, people skills, problem solving etc. these are considered soft skills, but are essential for working directly with people. Any liberal arts degree is helpful with these skills. Also, it helps a person to get jobs when the person is to work with. A-holes may get a job, but keep it if the business or agency can’t stand having you. around. One caveat : You will not get rich doing these things, but the typical person who psychology does it because they like working people rather than money.

Literally all degrees are useless in this guys eyes

  7. Jahari Alex on October 12, 2021 at 8:13 am

Bachelor’s degrees don’t really matter unless you do STEM. I would tell anyone get your BA in whatever and then after stack it with a Masters in an area that will make you more money.

  8. Beep Bop Boop on October 12, 2021 at 8:15 am

Why are you ragging on bachelor’s level speech when everyone knows you have to get the masters. I hope you ragged on premed for the same reason. Pretty useless if you stop there.

  9. puja shrestha on October 12, 2021 at 8:17 am

Bachelor in health (Aesthetics!)? / dermal science bachelors? is that worth it?

Hello sir, Greetings from India. I wanted to ask you a question. I am getting a degree that is specialization in health informatics, given the current scenario, will this degree lie in the good or bad degree sense?

  14. Tyler on October 12, 2021 at 8:24 am

See I’m getting a degree in health sciences. And am planning on after a masters as a PA. And then going to doctorate for a DO to do pediatric hematology/oncology

You were right. They will be requiring a masters by 2024 for dietetics degree but most internships have the masters already integrated into it. Additionally, good to note that you don’t get paid for the dietetics internship… in fact you need to pay them thousands of dollars for the “wonderful” opportunity to work for them

Can you do a video on the best online colleges that are accredited and the degrees are worth something? Too many janky online colleges out there.

  23. Natasha Gates on October 12, 2021 at 8:36 am

Yes. I have 2 associates degrees and a BA in psychology. Also certified medical assistant & phlebotomist.
I can’t find a job!! Hospitals don’t care what you’re certified in b/c they want people with experience and fresh faces to train their way…not your way.

Most degrees are worth nothing at all. Financial degrees or computer science. But you have be exceptional as very competitive jobs . There are no BA degrees where you can just get work on graduation 👨‍🎓. Engineering etc 👍 even a doctorate in Psychology is not useful .

  28. Dj Jeffro on October 12, 2021 at 8:42 am

In my dietetic internship, can confirm this is the dumbest decision—I literally hate waking up knowing I have to do this internship

Hi Shane I’d really appreciate your insight on this question I have here.

So, I just graduated with an associates in science as a physical therapy assistant. I’m interested in furthering my degree/career with a bachelors in business administration. I’ve heard you mention in another video that you like business administration degrees, however here you are warning against a healthcare administration degree.

I am planning to attend a highly respected non profit state college that is of course accredited and offers business admin with various focuses. I figured I’d go for health care admin to compliment my degree as a PTA and obtain management positions.

I also have the option at this school to get a bachelors in business admin with a focus in management information systems. In the other video I had mentioned before you said this was your favorite business admin degree. Should I go for the management information systems focus instead even though it doesn’t relate as closely to my health degree as healthcare admin would?

Thank you so much for all your time and effort you put into these videos!

im an organisational psychologist. liberal arts broaden peoples minds. in the work place, these people have a high toletance for ambguity, can see problems form many different angles, work well with others. There is lot of research to support this (Larrick 2016).

Many hospital employees qualify for discounts at local universities. While I worked as a registered nurse and decided to get my bachelor’s degree, I not only got a 20% discount on classes but received some tuition assistance from the hospital I worked for. It wasn’t much but it helped. Then when I worked at a different hospital, I was not only eligible for a 20% discount but eligible for over $5000/year of tuition reimbursement while I worked on my Masters. I have no debt. Discounts are not just given for nursing but many degrees.

Look guys I feel like when we know what we want to do with our lives a degree is what helps us gain the fundamentals to execute it correctly.

I’m currently studying public health to help me better understand how the population can benefit from community gardens, how our environment plays a role in our overall health and how these thing’s overall can improve our lives economically and mentality.

So please don’t think your degree is useless, anything that’s a stepping stone to what you want from your life has worth period.

  41. Vicendese Pierre on October 12, 2021 at 8:53 am

I am surprised public health and epidemiology was not on the list. People in this field generally need a PhD to enter either academia or industry. But the pay is only slightly above the average

  42. Tala on October 12, 2021 at 8:54 am

I majored in psych and after watching so many videos I’m gonna change my degree, I want the bag with my bachelors. I’m halfway through my bachelors but lucky I will just minor in psych with all the classes I took and switch majors and still finish on time (hopefully by the time I’m 20-21. I have no idea what I want to get into and I like psychology but realistically to me I want a break after masters and who knows maybe I wouldn’t want to get a masters. Life is too short for me to keep going to school and getting into debt for a job that will make me as much or lower than a bachelors degree. Thank you for these videos and please do more videos about finding your passion thank you

You are totally right! Im slpa, and if I knew what I know now……my bachellor’s degree was different now. It is a completely lost of time and monedas, but for the universities in Puerto Rico is a perfect bussiness.

    Literally no one:
But me finding that comment guy who can summarize the video

  46. Emerald on October 12, 2021 at 8:57 am

Ngl, the thumbnail and title told me this would be a really loud, snarky, maybe mildly douchey video … but I’m glad I gave it a shot anyway because you’re immediately more levelheaded and presenting with more nuance than I expected lol.

(No shade meant, it’s hardly even really feedback so much as an expression of gratitude, I know you’ve got to do what it takes to compete on this site!)

I do think it’s very disingenuous to lump in acupuncture (and by implication/extension all of TCM) with the most negative possible portrayal of naturopathy. Acupuncture and many other elements of TCM (and some elements of naturopathy) are very well supported, and the only reason they’re still stigmatized is outdated dogmas and (to an extent, less than many people claim, but still some extent) industry profit motivations. Yeah a lot of people represent these disciplines poorly, but that doesn’t categorically make them useless, which is what that entry here seemed to communicate. That just isn’t a scientific way to address the topic. Only criticism I have so far though.

  47. Romeoslover on October 12, 2021 at 8:58 am

One more point. You start out low end of the ladder, but you advance very quickly if you are open to different jobs where you use the same skills. I started in 1987 at a punny 1000.K per month, but everything was way less expensive back then. When I retired, it was at 65k, plus full medical, dental insurance, and not mention a decent pension. These jobs pay more than that currently.
